Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary and Eötvös Loránd University are pleased to announce a conference on “Margaret Atwood 80: Central European Interpretations” to be held in Budapest, Hungary, on November 28-29, 2019.
The Conference Organizing Committee welcomes papers in English or French on the literary, cinematic, social and environmental perspectives of Margaret Atwood’s works, including the following topics:

The intended program will feature a keynote lecture, multiple thematic sessions, a panel discussion as well as a teacher training event & film screening. The French sessions will be coordinated by the Canada Center of Pázmány Péter Catholic University.
Presentations should be 20 minutes long. Undergraduate and graduate students will have their separate sessions with the opportunity of delivering 10-minute papers. Following the presentations, each panel will feature a Q&A session.
Abstracts of papers (maximum 250 words) and a one-paragraph CV for those planning to deliver papers should be submitted by e-mail to the organizers at deak.timea@kre.hu and karoli.canada@gmail.com by September 15, 2019. Participants will be notified of the acceptance of their paper proposals by September 30, 2019.
Conference participation is free but delivering a paper is subject to the approval of one’s abstract. A selection of papers will be published in a special, peer-reviewed journal issue devoted to the theme
